"MediŠvalÚ" is a programmatic composition, designed to illustrate scenes of medieval life. The opening and closing antiphonal fanfares depict medieval pageantry, while the flowing chant-like sections hearken back to the monastery. The ethereal suspended malleted bells portray the mystic beliefs popular of the times, and the light-hearted jig is reminiscent of the troubadour musician. The piece is a 3-4 octave double quartet. Both parts are completely separate with no overlap of notes from one group to another.
