Number 4 of the cycle of The Heavens Are Full which consists of 5 a cappella pieces with texts from Ecclesiasticus 43: 1-37, found in the Jerusalem Bible. After the first several measures of introduction, the soprano begins the main thematic element, the octave leap up with the following descending scale pattern. This is followed by scale up and leap down, and scale up then down. All these patterns are employed to suggest the arc of a rainbow.
